Sixty-six graduating S.B. students took an oath to practice ethical and responsible engineering, as part of the Order of the Engineer induction ceremony on May 2.
The ceremony emphasized the importance of integrity and responsibility for future engineers. The Order of the Engineer was initiated in the United States to foster a spirit of pride and responsibility in the engineering profession, to bridge the gap between training and experience, and to present to the public a visible symbol identifying the engineer.
“The ceremony is to remind students to use earth’s precious resources carefully and to keep in mind that what they are designing might affect others and the environment," said Linsey Moyer, Assistant Director of Undergraduate Studies in Biomedical Engineering.
