Marla Weiss, M.A. ’72, M.E. ’78 (applied mathematics) recently published a nonfiction book titled “From STEM to STEW: Finally Fixing Math Education by Turning It Upside Down.”
The book emphasizes that society should care about providing the best possible math education for all children, both for their futures and the country’s security. It also proposes a forward plan, found at the intersection of noted psychology, modern technology, and rigorous mathematics.
Weiss, author of 13 books, also holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Barnard College and a Ph.D. in mathematics education from Walden University.
