NAME: Andrew Yang
CONCENTRATION: Bioengineering
GRADUATION YEAR: 2020
"To many, engineering at a liberal arts college is counterintuitive. Engineering naturally has many course requirements, and the notion of a liberal arts education is that one should not be restricted to one particular field of study, but rather have a wide breadth of exposure. In choosing to concentrate in engineering, I felt quite the opposite. I think that engineering is the epitome of a liberal arts education because of how wide-ranging the classes covered by the degree are, and how many opportunities there are to apply its skills to other fields. After graduating this spring, I hope to be able to impact the medical field with the skills I gained through my engineering degree. I'm interested in the ways that engineering can provide solutions for many of medicine's biggest challenges, whether it's in making a device for a specific application, or in completely redesigning a health care system."
