Harvard President Lawrence Bacow has approved Stratos Idreos, Gordon McKay Professor of Computer Science, to the role of full professor with tenure at the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS).

Idreos directs the Data Systems Laboratory at SEAS. His lab is currently developing a self-designing data engine to accelerate research and improve productivity, a data storage system that can change shapes based on hardware and workload, and a program that accelerates data science pipelines and makes data science more intuitive and interactive.

Idreos completed his undergraduate studies and master’s degree at Technical University of Crete in Greece, and his Ph.D. at the University of Amsterdam. He joined SEAS in 2014. He’s the recipient of the United States Department of Energy Early Career Award, an NSF CAREER Grant, and multiple recognitions from the Association for Computing Machinery's Special Interest Group on Management of Data.
