The REEF Makerspace (Reimagining Experiential Education & Fabrication) offers an experiential approach to knowledge at the intersection of Art, Culture, and Science using a myriad of state-of-the-art equipment. REEF strives to create a welcoming community environment for everyone. 

The REEF team consists of Managers Joe Kile and Jeff Blitt, as well as the Aris Demetrios Maker Fellows. Maker Fellows, comprising of graduate and undergraduate students, actively contribute to the REEF by engaging in tasks related to the Makerspace and general housekeeping, assisting with and enhancing the overall experience for our community members. 

The REEF Makerspace is a unit of the Teaching and Learning group, which also oversees the Active Learning Labs and a set of instructional shops.

REEF Makerspace Access 

Any member of the Harvard community with an HUID is welcome to gain access to the REEF Makerspace. If you are new to the REEF Makerspace, please use the following links to schedule an in-person, 20 minute orientation and complete the online training portion:

(1)   Schedule an In-Person Orientation (close toed-shoes and an HUID are required)

(2)   Machine Shop and Makerspace Safety-Soldering Required (EHS) online training

Once the online portion is completed, please submit your certificate/timestamp to jkile@seas.harvard.edu. Swipe access to the REEF is typically approved within one week of both (1) completing the in-person orientation and (2) submitting the online training certificate to the above email address.

Swipe is removed at the end of August as we move into the new academic year. If you are a returning member, please make sure your online training is up to date within the last 365 days and reach out to Joe at jkile@seas.harvard.edu to regain access.
