The Power and AI Initiative at Harvard (PAI)
The Power and AI Initiative (PAI) at Harvard SEAS is dedicated to advancing research, solutions, and education opportunities at the intersection of power systems and artificial intelligence. PAI aims to make the grid smarter—improving reliability, integrating renewable energy, and lowering costs for data centers. By leveraging AI for grid management—enabling predictive maintenance, optimizing energy distribution, and integrating renewable resources seamlessly—we are reimagining the grid as an adaptive, efficient foundation for a sustainable energy future.
PAI aims to address five strategic themes: 1) Speed up AI data centers interconnection process, 2) Energy efficiency in AI operations, 3) Resilient power electronics for data center efficiency, 4) GenAI-enhanced grid efficiency and reliability, 5) Grid-friendly AI data centers for demand flexibility.
