Salzberg named ACM Fellow

Steven Salzberg, Ph.D. ’89, honored for contributions to computational biology

Steven Salzberg, Ph.D. ’89 (computer science), has been named a Fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).

Salzberg, Bloomberg Distinguished Professor, Director of the Center for Computational Biology, and Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University, was honored for contributions to computational biology, including software for DNA sequence analysis, alignment, and genome assembly.

He joins 94 other 2020 fellows in receiving the honor, which recognizes the top 1 percent of ACM members for their outstanding accomplishments in computing and information technology.
