Brown named an inspiring Black scientist

Emery Brown, A.B. ’78 (applied math), has been named to a list of 1,000 inspiring Black scientists published by Cell Mentor, a resource for researchers offered by Cell Press.

Brown is Warren M. Zapol Professor of Anesthesia at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and a practicing anesthesiologist at MGH, as well as Edward Hood Taplin Professor of Medical Engineering at MIT.

His lab develops statistical methods and signal-processing algorithms for neuroscience data analysis. In addition, Brown’s leading work to unravel the mysteries of general anesthesia seeks to answer a major question facing modern medicine.
