Eboni White, S.B. '17, has been selected for the Warner Norcross + Judd Diversity Scholarship and Summer Employment Opportunity. Currently a first-year law student at the University of Michigan, White will spend this summer as an associate at the firm’s Detroit office, then receive a $20,000 scholarship over two semesters. The scholarship is part of the firm’s commitment to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion in the legal profession.

“I am ecstatic to be working with Warner Norcross + Judd this summer,” White said in a statement. “Receiving their scholarship puts me closer to my goal of becoming an attorney. I am deeply humbled and grateful for this opportunity.”

White studied mechanical engineering at the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. She interned at Ford Motor Company while here, and following graduation went on to work as an engineer at both Ford and Hutchinson, a motor vehicle parts manufacturer. She was also a member of Detroit’s 2022 New Leaders Council Institute, which focuses on creating equitable social and political change within the Detroit community.

“As an African American growing up in Grand Rapids, I recognized early on that we are all more alike than different, and focused my efforts on finding common ground with others to build relationships,” she said. “I learned how to advocate, not only for my opinions, but for others.”
