12. Allston Neighborhood

Heading west on Western Avenue, away from the Charles River, you will find a mix of old and new Allston.

Barry’s Corner—the 9.3-acre slice of Allston at the intersection of North Harvard Street and Western Avenue— is one of the main hubs of the neighborhood and a place where Allston’s residential and commercial spaces merge with the University’s institutional presence.

Continuum Allston, located at Barry’s Corner, houses retail shops and restaurants on the ground floor, and apartments on the upper floors. Street level retail includes Trader Joes, Our Fathers' modern deli, Starbucks, and BKBX Allston (indoor bouldering gym). There are future development plans for the lot across the street, which may include a public park, a basketball arena, and some additional apartments.

Other nearby locations of note are the Harvard EdPortal, Harvard Stadium, Murr Center, Blodgett PoolHarvard’s ceramics studio, Allston Zone 3 community space, Podcast Garage, Swissbakers, Jamaica Mi Hungry, and Night Shift Brewing.
